I moved to Berlin so that I could wake up, walk out the door and sit down for a delicious breakfast (preferably with a mimosa in one hand) in one of Berlin’s many cafés. The lockdown has been lifted and whether you’re a breakfast or a brunch person, we’ve got a spot for each day of the week.
Dänenstrasse 14, 10439 Berlin-Prenzelauer Berg
A short walk from our numa- Belfort, Unser Café is a down-to-earth cafe in Prenzlauer Berg specialising in Portuguese baked goods. I’ve grabbed typical breakfast foods like a banging English breakfast, shakshuka- and even a breakfast burger (yum) and walked out in need of a siesta every time.
Görlitzer Strasse 68, 10997 Berlin-Kreuzberg
If you’re particular about your ingredients and value good coffee, make your way down to Annelies. They offer a selection of breakfast items with a focus on high-quality ingredients and coffee. Be ready to expect the unexpected as their menu features specialties like a breakfast sandwich with pancakes as the buns and chicken liver pate on sourdough toast with preserved blueberry and hazelnuts (you heard me). They only get cracking on the weekends, so wake up without a rush and enjoy some mouth-watering breakfast.
Tempelhofer Ufer 1, Berlin 10961-Kreuzberg
An absolute favourite! Every time I head there I end up spending an entire afternoon. The boutique right at the entrance, high ceilings, funky floor work and so many hanging plants surely make it the cosiest, most hipster place to grab a coffee & cake or to simply sit down and write a blog.
Uhlandstraße 49, 10719 Berlin-Charlottenburg
Closed on Tuesdays, this Berlin breakfast staple is known for long waits on the weekends. During the pandemic, they served up their usual dishes in a COVID-friendly fashion with either takeaway orders or what they call “picnic boxes”—simply grab a box and go. Picnic weather may be over, but these boxes are here to stay and can of course also be enjoyed indoors.
Lützowstraße 22, 10785 Berlin-Schöneberg
In case you’d like to stay in at your numa Drift and need a quick, round-the-corner delivery, Rocket + Basil has you covered—because they’re also a catering service! They focus on a fusion of Middle Eastern and Western cuisines, serving up the crispiest tahdig (try it if you haven’t), breakfast baguettes and halva brownies!!!
Böhmische Str. 46, 12055 Berlin-Neukölln
Offering a menu that changes weekly and featuring Australian breakfast foods, The future breakfast serves all day with ethically sourced coffee. Located in Neukölln, they’ve made sure to fit in by focusing on sustainability and adapting their menu to the seasons. A vegetarian haven, if I say so myself.
Auguststraße 29c, 10119 Berlin
Relishing your stay at Nook, our numa in bustling Mitte? It’s only getting sweeter from here on. Head to FACTORY GIRL without a reservation and grab yourself a Coco Anjéla. An original creation, this addictive yet healthy and delicious treat is implicitly guilt-free and it’s “vegan”.
