Discover the beauty of Vienna

Vienna is the centre of European culture, with more than 100 art museums, attracting more than eight million visitors annually. The capital boasts architectural masterpieces, with magnificent palaces and world-class museums, such as the Hofburg complex, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Schonbrunn, and the Opera House, Staatsoper. From Vienna came the many notable light operas, and in this field, the city held a unique place. Vienna is situated on both sides of the Danube River. The city soon transformed in the 19th and 20th centuries to a more modern yet creative architectural landscape. It was home to Sigmund Freud, the world’s first psycho-analyst, and thus it is called “The City of Dreams''. You will find music in the very air of Vienna. In fact, it’s also the city of dreams for architecture lovers.
Vienna’s city centre is easily explored on foot. So, do walk over to the Ringstrasse, one of the world’s most beautiful boulevards. On this main thoroughfare, the university, the town hall, the Parliament buildings, the National Library, the Museum for Natural History, and the History of Art can be found. The city is an architectural marvel with its magnificent squares and parks in several imposing public buildings. The Inner Stadt is home to most of Vienna’s points of interest and is surrounded by the Ringstrasse, which separates the centre of Vienna from the surrounding districts. However, my personal favourite area remains Belvedere, built in baroque style, a little bit further from the city centre.
Vienna never fails to surprise you. You’ll be immersed in a completely different style of architecture once you arrive at Unteren Weissgerberstrasse 13, which hosts an exciting building called Kunst Haus Wien. Its fabulous irregular shape, pastel colours, mosaics and surrounding greenery will come as a pleasant surprise. I like to pair this architectural sightseeing with a Wiener Schnitzel, which is best served at Figlemüller, followed by the Viennese cake I was talking and dreaming about at the start of this blog!
