Fall for Berlin

Almost everyone you ask is going to tell you to make your way down to Mauerpark on Sundays, and not for no reason! The place has undeniable magic. Almost always buzzing with either the flea market or artistic performances, Mauerpark has an energy that will not let two strangers feel uncomfortable. You can sip on various drinks available there while sitting down among the lavender on a hill overlooking the park.
The colonnade on Museumsinsel can be a little touristy, but it’s undeniably one of the sweetest settings in Berlin. It also provides you with many museum-related ice breakers as you on the steps of the Altes Museum and watch musicians play in front of the fountain or chill on the grass with a bottle of cheap prosecco near the Berliner Dom.
The Körnerpark in Neukölln doesn’t see much foot traffic, so if you need some quiet downtime with your partner, it certainly is one of the most picturesque places to go. When you walk around the slightly urban neighbourhood, you’d never expect the Victorian-style garden with a waterfall and a little gallery with arches and angels. The gallery also hosts a little café, and sometimes you can stumble upon live musical events!
Got a sporty date? No problem. Closed for business in 2008, this gigantic airport now hosts concerts and exhibitions. The crazy thing is that despite €60 million of the state budget allocated for Tempelhof, it’s a perfect example of Berliners’ independence in choosing leisure activities. From cyclists and skaters to kite flyers and bubble blowers, all leisure communities co-exist in harmony.
Humboldthain is one of the biggest and most beautiful parks in the Wedding district (pronounced “Vedding”, and unfortunately unrelated to marriage) and there’s so much to do! That said, I’ve only ever made my way down there for the Rose Garden, and my God, it’s probably one of the most precious gardens of the city. It’s secluded and surrounded by thick forest and with only one gated entrance. It’s a hidden gem that a lot of people in Berlin don’t even know about.
