Frankfurt am Main is always worth a visit! It’s one of Germany’s largest cities and the most important financial hub in continental Europe. In recent years it has become a popular hotspot for photos. The German version of New York City, often called Mainhattan, offers numerous locations which guarantee unique photo opportunities. Let me introduce you to five of the city’s most instagrammable spots to make your followers envious.
Lohrberg, Frankfurt's local mountain, is the ideal spot for mild summer evenings. It’s an absolute must-see; you get a striking view of the city’s skyline and the Lohrberger Hang vineyards. Who’d expect to find vineyards in the Frankfurt municipal area? I definitely didn’t. Don’t just go for the impressive Instagram photos, bring a picnic blanket and watch the sunset!
Eiserner Steg is another perfect photo location in Frankfurt—there’s a stunning skyline panorama and a lovely display of colourful love locks. This pedestrian bridge connects the city centre around Römerberg with the Sachsenhausen district on the other side of the river Main. Every day, thousands of people walk across this impressive bridge from Hibbdebach to Dribbdebach. It’s especially lovely during summertime! In the early morning or from the late afternoon onwards, the skyline towers reflect the sun.
One attraction you absolutely can’t miss while visiting Frankfurt is the Main Tower. It’s the 4th highest building in Germany and the city's highest viewpoint. The Main Tower’s lift takes you up to lofty heights, and once you reach the top floor, you’ll find a unique view over Frankfurt. There is also a restaurant and a lounge area. This spot will guarantee some amazing photos.
Some of the most beautiful skyline shots of Mainhattan’s skyscrapers are taken from the river Main. So why not bring your camera while riding a boat or taking a stroll down the river? There’s a variety of one-hour panorama cruises. For the best experience, I’d recommend planning your cruise around sunset. If you prefer to take a walk by the river, don’t forget to stop at one of the following bridges: Alte Brücke, Ignatz Bubis Brücke, Flößerbrücke, or Deutschherrnbrücke. From there you can take wonderful photos of Frankfurt’s skyline.
The best place to start your picturesque tour through Frankfurt is the station Taunusanlage. Simply stop by the most popular buildings, such as Deutsche Bank Twin Towers, Japan-Center, Main Tower, or Commerzbank-Tower, for some unique skyscraper photos, taken from the ground.
As you see, you don’t need to book a flight to New York City to get some impressive skyline snapshots—Frankfurt will do the job as well. Still looking for a room for your stay in Germany’s financial centre? Check out our numa locations Blau, Oben, and Bloc!
