Welcome to Topp. It screams Oslo, Norway, in ways more than one. A picturesque, white and camel building standing in the middle of Uranienborg will evoke peace and excitement at the same time when you first set sight on it. Oslo apartments with stylish rooms—modern yet minimalist, tasteful art, clean and cutting-edge design, and an atmosphere that sets the vibes just right for your trip—are waiting for you at Topp.
Uranienborg was originally a farmland area with an excellent view of the city. The site was integrated into Oslo's territory in the mid-19th century, and these days is renowned for its natural beauty and attractive monuments and memorials. It makes the perfect hangout spot for nature lovers and city people alike. For sight-seers and history enthusiasts, Topp is close to Royal Palace and the Historical Museum. You can also catch a break at Uranienborg Park, the biggest green patch in the neighbourhood, as it offers 17 acres of beautiful hilly land perfect for jogging, playing sports, or having a picnic. In the park is a statue of Hans Nielsen Hauge, a famous 18th-century revivalist who was a key player in Norway's political and religious history. The park is also home to Uranienborg Church, right behind the Royal Palace of Oslo. The church is a neo-Gothic building with beautiful architectural nuances and an interior decorated with ancient frescoes by famous artist Martin Enevold Thømt.
If you're one to stay in and catch up on some reading or emails, we get that too, so we make your stay hassle free from the beginning at our Oslo apartments. We're fully digital, so there's no reception or staff onsite. Instead, you can use your digital check-in and PIN codes to access the property and rooms! Don't worry; we're a text away, as our team is available 24/7 for any questions or concerns via Whatsapp and email. Once you're in your room, you'll find amenities like high-speed free WiFi and fully equipped kitchenettes on top of our usual (super cosy) beds and spacious bathrooms.
Uranienborg is accessible by the Briskeby Line (a section of Oslo's Tramway) and is an excellent place for a low-key afternoon visit. Or a high-key night out. There's something for everyone, from arty cocktail bars to hipster music venues. Renowned for its live music scene, Oslo's bars and clubs stay open until 3 am and are generally easy to walk between. Although alcohol is expensive and the minimum age requirement for many clubs is 23, here are some of our favourite and not-to-be-missed spots:
Blå—one of the best live music venues in Oslo. It used to be an old diamond vault, so it's a fantastic old brick building with high ceilings and a great outdoor bar if you just want a drink in the summer. Right next to the river, Blå is located in the trendy industrial Grünerløkka district, renowned for its colourful graffiti art, galleries and excellent bars. It's a fantastic spot and is a great place to see bands, but it's worth checking what's on that night before you pay at the door. Pop to the cosy nearby bar Bortenfor (look for the inconspicuous sign on the gate) to grab a drink on the riverside terrace first.
The Villa—An Oslo institution, is an underground house and techno nightclub that gets going around midnight. Close to the city's centre, it opens on a Friday and Saturday nights only and is regularly voted by music magazines as one of the best clubs in the world. The club has previously hosted sets by Diplo, Andrew Weatherall and Guy Gerber. It's a very cool basement club that's been there for years; they also have a burger bar attached to it that serves really, really good burgers.
Skaugum—The ultimate backyard bar, Skaugum opened in 1997 in the courtyard behind the acclaimed Palace Grill restaurant. Set on different levels, the bar has a weekend DJ and a roaring open grill that keeps the crowds warm even in a Norwegian winter. The bar attracts a mixed and very loyal crowd, some of whom are such regulars they have their names on the wall.
Whether you like to party, take a walk, stay in, cook yourself a meal or are an art history enthusiast with an affinity for stained glass and unique edifices—Topp is in the middle of it all. So what're you waiting for? Book your trip to Oslo with us.
